Immigration Visa, Work Permit
CANADA
The Honourable Denis Coderre, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada announces that with immediate effect the points requirement under the skilled worker category goes down to 67 points. The new passmark of 67 points will cover all applicants who filed an application on or after 1 January 2002 and who have not as yet received a selection decision. The previous pass mark from 28 June 2002 to 17 September 2003 was 75 points.
There is also a proposal to amend the transitional provisions that came into effect on 28 June 2002 that would mean that all skilled worker and business immigration applicants who applied before January 01, 2002 would be assessed under the selection criteria of the former Immigration Act.
These changes mean that there is now a huge increase in the number of people who qualify under the Canada skilled worker programme. This is the most significant change in the Canadian Points system since 15 December 2001 when the old skilled immigration system effectively ended. Canada now has one of the best immigration programs in the World. This is a great new opportunity for skilled applicants from around the World to emigrate to Canada
UK
The UK has introduced a number of new UK immigration, naturalization, UK visa, work permit and UK working visa categories in the last few years. The points based skilled immigration category the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) introduced in January 2002 has proved to be very successful.
There is also a new low skilled UK work permit category for the sectors based visa. There are likely to be further UK immigration changes soon that will allow even more people to gain entry to the UK. We will keep you up to date on all these UK work visa, work permits for UK and UK immigration developments.
You may have to wait months for your UK visa application to be processed by the Home Office Immigration Directorate, or spend the whole day there to then find that you do not have all the relevant documentation.
